'Twas, 'twas...there were two WEVD(AM)s in New York radio history.  The
first was the 1924-vintage station that ended up on 1330, sharing time
with WBBR (um, the first one of them, too :-).  WBBR became WPOW in 1957,
WEVD(AM) was sold off by the Daily Forward (which was making much better
money off WEVD-FM 97.9) in the late 70s and became WNYM.  Both merged
into WWRV in the late '80s.

The second, and current, WEVD(AM) is what happened when the Forward sold
the FM to Spanish Broadcasting Systems and got their second AM, the 1050
then known as WUKQ (earlier WHN, WMGM, and WHN).
