I wanted to remind all the old radio fans on the list that on 9 August, in
East Greenwich, Rhode Island, the New England Wireless and Steam Museum is
having its annual Yankee Tune-Up. If you haven't been to the museum, it's
worth the trip. Some amazing and venerable equipment from Marconi,
Armstrong, Dolbear, Edison, and a display honouring Eunice Randall, among
other cool stuff. They even have old spark gap transmitters that still
work. It's about 15 minutes from Providence and easy to get to.
401-885-0545 is the number for more information. Address of the museum is
1300 Frenchtown Road (at Tillinghast), and it's convenient to Rt. 95. I
like this museum a lot-- the curator, Bob Merriam, has put a lot of love
into it. And yes, they have some AMRAD receivers too (and no, they don't
work...<g>)
