The trouble is that there isn't all that much "different" to do (at least
that stands a chance of attracting an audience).  Most markets these days
are so over-radioed that there are more FM's than there are listeners to go
around.  AM has been neglected so long, and has such a bad rep that it's
like pulling teeth to even get people to check out the band...yeah, they
might tune in to hear the Red Sox game, but game over, ZAP back to FM.  Name
one AM that's come back from the grave.

I'm as much of a radio geek as anyone in this group (well, almost), but
truth is, I rarely listen to AM anymore unless I'm really bored.  Talk,
religion and old-folk's music just doesn't do it.  I wish I could say otherwise.

Let's face it, the minute you have something that "works" on AM (ie: makes
money), someone's gonna do it on FM, and there go your listeners.  Take
oldies for example (50s/60s rock)...10 years ago it was still a viable AM
format, but how many are doing it now?
