I think he did some programming/consulting/engineering work for the
Knight company and properties....

John has a good understanding of engineering...and I think he is
responsible for getting the FM signals 'up-to-par'....or at least up to
potential.  I'm sure he helped with the programming decisions and the
formats chosen as well.
