A number of people said something like this when I pointed out the
benefits of mono FM a few months ago.  It may have been true twenty years
ago when FM stereo was a novelty, but I don't think it matters much these
days.

According to AccuRatings, the number one station in Boston among adults
25 - 54 is WBUR, which as far as I know never runs stereo.
