WSSH (1510 Boston)

In the many posts of the now dark 1510 I'm not sure if there were references to its brief incarnation in 1987 or so as WSSH (1510 Boston) // WSSH-FM (99.5 Lowell). I was there as a part-timer shortly after the WSSH move from Lowell to Woburn. Later, the legal changed to "WSSH-FM Lowell Boston" as 1510 became WSSH and commenced simulcasting.

I recall station techs visiting homes around 1510's site offering filters to address audio on Aunt Millie's toaster, her poodle's collar, etc.

It almost seemed as though the purchase was more for the opportunity to say, "WSSH Boston" (with the FM legal tagged on).

Rumor had it that previously, when Lerner still owned it, former sister station and studio host WLLH (1400 Lowell//Lawrence) was about to flip to WSSH calls with its "Modern Country" jingles re-sung for the occasion but it was ditched at the last minute.

I found this on YouTube, a challenged early morning recording off of 1510.

Regardless, it makes me reminisce for a once great and highly rated soft AC station in "Boston's Wish 99.5 WSSH. Playing your easy favorites of yesterday and today."
