Will WMEX go silent forever?

We have no idea whether there's a new negotiated lease or not. And, if a
station goes silent, it doesn't have to notify the FCC until its off for 15
consecutive days, at which time, they would apply for "Special Temporary
Authority" ($190.00 fee).
So nothing can be assumed about WMEX's demise yet.

How's this for Boston radio history..WMEX could be gone with its last show
being a silly gagfest? Remember that WHDH 850 toilet flush?
On Friday June 30 at 6 pm, WMEX 1510 fell silent. The transmitter lease was
apparently not renewed and it sounds like Daly LLC is exiting the Boston
airwaves. There was said to be a new owner waiting but so far no official
word.No word yet of a temporary silent authorization. Will the FCC delete
the frequency and calls eventually? Or will someone step forward and buy a
station with no current transmitter site or agreement...AM radio with a
signal that goes out to sea? Will Salem step up, or maybe iHeart..or who?
The former home of Arnie Ginsburg and Jerry Williams.
Am out of area but some say a NJ station comes in faintly at night.
I don't know if it got through on the air but (on the stream) the last
caller said, "I'm gonna miss you (expletive)." After a second cuss word the
host joked about getting a huge FCC fine but hey who cares, let's go out
drinkin'.
