Yes, and this was announced previously.  It's because he posts from
Yahoo! Mail, and Yahoo and AOL decided to break mailing-lists.  This
is the only mechanism we have to allow users of those services to post
to the list without Gmail bouncing all their messages (thereby causing
Gmail subscribers to be automatically kicked off).
