Note that if you have a digital-cable-ready device with a CableCARD
slot, they're still required to give you one for free.  Second and
subsequent they charge $2.50 a month for.

TiVo is pretty much the only manufacturer of such devices these days.
(TiVo units tend to suck rather less than cable-company boxes, but
that's obviously overkill for the little 13" TV in the kitchen!)
