Breaking News!?! Sorry WCVB, I don't think so....

"Just got "Breaking News" on my iPhone from NewsCenter 5.  I expected something important and newsworthy.  Instead it was telling me that the Patriots won their game."

This is, unfortunately, a foreseeable and logical extension of the wholesale cheapening of the term "news" to include just about anything the producers want to include, whether it's devolving into political opinion or shilling at length for a company (which used to be called a program-length commercial, and yes Donna, I saw your letter about the Amazon segment on 60 Minutes).

Apparently in some quarters there is no longer any such thing as news judgment, just pandering.
