Spammer on the list?

"The person's name may have been in the address book of the guy or gal whose e-mail WAS hijacked."

Hijacking of an e-mail account is no longer necessary.  Spammers these days typically use programs that steal e-mail addresses and links from Internet sites...much less work involved for them.  Some of this software will even steal e-mail addresses from mailto: links and automatically strip out the "mailto:" text.
