Donald McGannon who ran Westinghouse was 'frugal' and the local managers had to run everything thru him. The way McGannon figured out a way to eliminate IBEW jobs on the radio side was creative - telling IBEW they would control anything with a VU meter and then installing combo boards without them.
Kaye wanted a raise and they said no.
The one mistake they made was thinking Jerry Williams could do both radio and TV. TV for Jerry was a disaster and Win Baker begged Bob Kennedy to return for TV and was laughed at. Enter Sonya Hamlin.
Jay Dunn was almost invisible - he just did his shift, held the listeners and went home.
