I remember, too, that even long after Channel 5 went on the air with 
its all-color local programming, Channel 7 didn't colorcast at all --- 
not that CBS offered much in color besides Red Skelton and "The Wizard 
of Oz," but IIRC it was quite a while before 7 could offer even those 
with a full palette. 

Was RKO General originally that cheap and chintzy with all its 
stations, even WOR-TV?
