I hope the cover has been settled.  For the life of me I can't think
of any historic figure that fills that bill for Boston broadcasting
more than the Shawmut Nightly News Teller, Arch MacDonald (with or
without the keg of nails.)  From radio in 1936, through the birth of
television, into the  80s and the CATV revolution. A pioneer in a
business where that term is tossed around far too easily.   WBZ,
WBZ-TV, WKBG, WNAC, WCVB, WRKO.

I can't even think of a second choice.
