He was on-air doing the 9 AM - Noon slot in '76.  I won a Cherry Pie from
him (still have the recording) on George Washington's birthday.  The station
was "AC" at the time.

Was this date incorrect, or did he work there in an off-air capacity?
IIRC, WMEX was still Top 40 during that time frame & an old-school announcer
like Alan would have sounded a bit out of place playing ABBA, Bad Co,
Eagles, etc.
