There has to be a part of the story nobody knows.... The T&G may have been owned by some stuffed shirts but they couldn't have been that braindead. WTAG-TV could most likely have joined NBC given the long relationship the AM station had with the network. Westinghouse would have screamed but WJAR-TV was the same distance from Boston.
