The supposed rule about not ending sentences with a preposition was
never really a rule of English grammar. It was a construct of 19th
Century grammarians who were trying to make English grammar more like
Latin.

Someone is supposed to have criticized Winston Churchill for ending a
sentence with a preposition. His reply: "This is an impudence up
with which I shall not put!"
