erasing videotapes hits a new level

We radio-TV historians have lamented that so much of broadcasting
history was lost. While CBS kept tapes of game shows just in case
another scandal happened, NBC Brooklyn erased 99 percent of shows
before 1971 because of the cost of two inch quad tape

But today we learn the most famous broadcast of the 20th Century was
erased by NASA. The master recordings of the first moonwalk
