In Portland Maine, WJAB (AM 1440 daytimer or low power nights - don't recall) was the dominant Top 40 station in the early/mid 60's.  WCSH played Top 40 but kinda wimpy.  To me JAB was the leader.  They had Bob Fuller (yes, THAT Bob Fuller) & Jim Sands.  Atlantic States Industries bought a sleepy MOR WLOB-AM 1310 (5KW), flipped to Top 40 on a Monday morning in 65 and WJAB folded like a house of cards.
