They were not "canned" and they are not "unemployed."  Their program was cancelled, but they are still on the Infinity payroll, per the terms of their employment contracts.

Personally, I'd love to be lying around doing nothing, and making a tenth of what they make.  Wouldn't bother me a bit.  <g>
