WLLO-LP radiates in horizontal plane only

I noticed that WLLO-LP 102.9 Londonderry NH radiates their 100watts in the
horizontal plane only. This could explain why they do not come in very
well while driving in a car with a vertical antenna.

Is this typical or unusual for a LPFM to transmit in one plane only.
