Something Dan is highlighting is that, even with (very expensive) signal 
plotting gear and a solid knowledge of RF propagation and 
reception......radio still has a hefty "art" component vs. the 
"science".   There are just SO many variables that can affect your 
reception of an AM or FM signal that you can't possibly account for them 
all, especially in the mobile environment.   Sometimes you just gotta throw 
up your hands and move your radio.  :-)
