I suppose any of these would be better than what FNX is now: a lame WBCN
wannabe. 15 years ago FNX had a hand in introducing me to a lot of music I
would never have heard anywhere else, except maybe on the
non-commercial end of the band. With a decent signal and parked in the
middle of the band they caught the attention of a lot of people like me.
Only later would I discover college radio.

As they gradually switched, during the mid to late 90's, from a somewhat
intelligent format to loudmouth, gutterball morning programming and
endless loops of Kid Rock and other mainstream rock nonsense,
myself and many other old listeners moved on. Hell I'd be more likely to
listen to them if they had a halfway interesting hip-hop format versus
their format these days. Although I have noticed they have brought back
some "alternative" classics into the playlists it's not quite enough.
Maybe I'll tune my radio off of WZBC when FNX switches, just long
enough to have a last laugh. RIP.
