Yes there all kinds of things in subway and light
vecichles that generate a lot of RFI. Try listening to
AM radio with a walkman on any of the T's subway lines
- unless you're sitting at a window seat, you're going
to get a lot of QRM. Especially in the newer
subway/trolley cars such as the Type 8s (Breda) Green
Line cars. These newer vechicles can have all manner
of microcontrollers and other QRM generating
electronic stuff. Even the eletronic sign boards
probably radiate RF.
