Recalling Newhart and Berman and all reminds me that no one has filled the gap 
since Ken Mayer's midnight show faded away.   What a classic: two hours
starting Sunday midnight (i.e., Monday morning) to keep us kids up late; a 
call-in show in which you heard only Mayer's side of the calls, the ads for his 
perpetual sponsors (Charley's Eating and Drinking Saloon "thoroughly and totally 
opposite the Pru", the Aku-Aku, Ken's Club in Central Square); and those albums: 
Newhart, Allen, Allen, Brooks & Reiner, Freberg, Cooper, not much Bob & Ray, 
though.

Hm, gotta find my copies of "You Don't Have to Be Jewish" and "Scream on Someone 
You Love Today".
