WABI-TV5 to start 5PM Newscast

According to a paid-advertisement in this weekend's Bangor Daily News
"TV Watch" WABI-TV Channel 5 will launch a new 5PM Newscast Monday Aug.
18. There is also a press-release on their website: wabi.tv
This will give WABI TV5 90 minutes of Local news features, weather and
sports from 5-6:30, after which it will join CBS Evening News.

Presently, WLBZ Channel 2 airs local news from 5-5:30, then airs WCSH
Newscenter at 5:30 from Portland, with local weather inserted about
5:45. WLBZ then goes back to a live local Newscast from 6-6:30.

WABI's ad makes numerous references to the fact that they will be airing
local news from their Waterville and Ellsworth News Bureaus, and that
viewers will NOT be getting their information from Portland, nor will
they have to contend with news from Southern Maine or New Hampshire.

Could be interesting to see how the first broadcast shapes up on
Monday...
