Arko-Matic, take 2
I had recently found an article in Billboard that said WRKO-FM went to a
hit music format not on 12 October 1966 as the Boston Radio Archives has
it, but rather, on 3 October 1966; and now it does seem that date has some
credibility-- I just found another article in Variety, from 5 October 1966
which said that Perry Ury had just pushed the button inaugurating "15 hours
of a day of automated top 40 music"-- the overnights were a simulcast of
easy listening music done by John Cleghorn, whose name rings no bells with
me...but Variety said he had been signed to a contract do the show on both
stations...
