Re: Mich. public radio host fired over war remarks



To set the record straight, I think the ACLU is just as likely to get involved 
in this case as it would have been if the guy had been fired for expressing 
anti-war opinions. Remember that, a decade or more ago, the allegedly leftist 
ACLU came to the aid of the clearly right-wing-extremist American Nazi Party 
when the Nazis were denied a permit to parade in the predominantly-Jewish 
Chicago suburb of Skokie IL. The ACLU won the case and the Nazis staged their 
parade, which took place without incident. Right-wingers conveniently forget 
the Skokie case whenever they excoriate the ACLU--something that they LOVE to 
do. Despite what the right wing alleges, the ACLU's agenda is neither left nor 
right of center; it is simply pro-free speech.
