I know for a fact that in Tewksbury MA, the Superintendent of Schools
sent a memo to Tewksbury Transit, Inc. (the company that is contracted to
provide school bus service in town) to be issued to the drivers stating that
WJMN (Jam'n 94.5) is not allowed to be played on radios in the buses on
routes to & from school and on school sanctioned field trips or athletic
trips. As I recall, the reason for this was concern over lyric content in
some of the songs played and content of skits and such from the on-air
talent. I believe some parents had complained to school officials about
this, and thus the WJMN ban came down from the Superintendent.
For those not familiar, WJMN's format is mainly Hip-Hop & Rap. Top
40/Urban is what I believe I've seen listed for them as well.
