Now that I think of it, I wonder if the musical
notes "G-E-C" stand for General Electric Company.
If I remember right, NBC was started by RCA
which was a spinoff of GE (and ironically enough
GE would later buy RCA and NBC). Maybe just an odd
co-incidence, but who knows? (i.e., maybe G.E.
still owned part of RCA at the time the chimes
made their first appearance, so it was a nod to
them?)... :)
