Right, but whoever wrote his statements picked the exact words that they did
to convey a certian impression.  The semantics do matter.

That's true.  It depends on the statute.  It wouldn't matter here.  No one
goes to jail when a corporation is held criminally liable.  There is a fine.
In this case, any assets the corporation has will certainly be gone when the
lawsuits are over.  I doubt a local (elected) prosecutor would want to take
money from the families by imposing a criminal fine.
