I think it has to do with the fact that most of its members generally tended to hunker down 
and do what their elders told them, follow the rules, etc.  They weren't much into political 
protests and suchlike.  And none of that generation, so far, has been elected President.  
(Only one, Dukakis, has been nominated.)
