Hmmm...what percentage of NAB member stations are Clear
Channel-owned? Might it be 12%? :-)

Never mind what percentage of the total amount of stations CCU owns...
it's the percentage of the population that lives within the coverage
areas of their stations that matters...much more than 12 per cent.
Lowry Mays (what you call corn) or his son(?) was a guest on the PBS
"Wall $treet Week with Fortune" this past weekend, and he uttered the
bromide that they only own about a tenth of the nation's radio stations.
He didn't reveal that in a mid-size market, or even larger ones, they
own one or two of the 50,000-watt AM blowtorches; 5 or 6 full-power FM's
and maybe a 6kw rim-shotter or two. That leaves a few other full-power
signals for Viacom, Entercom, etc...then the little guys are left with
let's say a 5000 watts days/1000 watts night DA-2 operation, usually
bird-fed MOYL, Talk-America. And of course CCU's Premiere syndicates
Rush and the faux-Doctor.
