WEEI-FM's "Young Sound" ! (Re: Remember HitRadio 103!)
You mean......
"On the Young Sound from CBS-FM we heard "A Kind Of A
Hush" from Trini Lopez, "We'll Love Again" from Ruby
and The Romantics and starting off this set with
"Sloop John B" with The Beach Boys......."
(-CLICK!-)
(now a local drop-in with Dick Provo's voice)
"You're listening to "The Young Sound" on WEEI-FM,
Boston. Stereo 103.3"
Then WEEI-FM would add a locally picked addition
(song) to the Young Sound playlist to keep the
rotation fresh as these tapes from CBS-FM were not
changed all that much. You could hear the difference
as the stuff from WCBS-FM, New York would be in full
Stereo, while WEEI-FM's local "picks" were dubbed in
mono. Their automation (in 1968), primative as it
was, sounded really good. In spite of WEEI-FM's puny
20,000 watt signal in Medford, they had some good
Stereo separation. When they moved to their Needham
site in 9/73, the signal was like night and day. It
was (and still is) a monster. 73, Pete.
