WCSH continues ratings dominance in Portland
WCSH won every news time slot in the November Neilsen
ratings with WGME in second and WMTW a distant third.
WCSH has lead in news ratings in every ratings period
since 1986.
See the Press Herald story on the ratings at:
http://www.pressherald.com/news/local/021214channel6.shtml
The online version does not have the chart that was
printed in the paper. At 6 p.m., the ratings were
WCSH 38, WGME 22, WMTW 4. At 11, WCSH 29, WGME 16,
WMTW 5. WCSH also won by large margins at 6 a.m.,
noon, 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
WMTW's miniscule news ratings actually dropped in most
day parts or were flat. At 5, they went from a 7 to a
4. In July 2001, they had a 10. At 6, WMTW went from
a 5 to a 4. In July 2001, they had a 7. News must be
a money losing proposition for WMTW. They might join
the list of stations dropping news if it was not for
their WMTW radio news operation. Of course, that
operation must also be losing money. They should
really just sell all their properties. ;-)
