Reminder: mail filtering in place

Just a reminder to all of the mail filtering set up on the
bostonradio.org server....

- - We use most of the rfc-ignorant.org blacklists to help cut down on
spam. These blacklists will reject mail from domains which are not
properly configured to receive abuse, postmaster, or bounce messages,
or which have invalid whois information. If your mail is rejected for
this reason, it will say so in the error message. There is nothing I
can do to fix this; you'll need to either complain to your ISP until
they fix their configuration and then notify rfc-ignorant.org, or else
find a non-spam-friendly ISP. (Sometimes this has to percolate up
through several levels of ISPs, if your ISP is a customer of another
ISP who is a customer of a third ISP, and it's that last one who has
screwed up.)

- - Mail which is encoded in HTML or any other format other than plain
text will be rejected automatically. There is an error in recent
versions of AOL's mail program that causes it to insist on sending
HTML almost all the time; AOL users should complain if they are unable
to get their mail through. (HTML is for Web pages, not e-mail.)

- - Mail from certain free Web-based e-mail systems, and from certain
posters, is configured for manual approval. If a message meets basic
standards of relevance and language, and is properly formatted, it
should get posted to the list, possibly in edited form. (However, if
I feel that the message merely re-hashes other discussion on the list,
or has been overtaken by events, I may not post it at all.) All
postings may be subject to manual moderation at any time, particularly
if I see a significant long-term problem with relevance, language, or
proper formatting. Oh, and sometimes I go on vacation, in which case
messages and requests requiring moderator intervention will probably
take some time after I return.

- - I reserve the right to change these rules at any time.

- - If you have any problems with these rules, or your messages are for
some reason not getting through and you can't figure out why, you may
contact me privately at the address above (which does not go through
this server). If you receive a bounce message, you must provide it to
me in order to determine the cause.

- -GAWollman
