Just my 2 cents,  Don is right.  It's never been harder to break into
this field but persistance does (or can) pay off.  I got my first Boston
gig because of persistance.  I was on the phone to Joe Giotta two or
three times a week when I learned that he had an opening at WVBF and when
he finally got the okay to fill it I was the only person still calling
with that frequency so I'm the one he called to audition.  Persistance
got me in the door and I got the gig.    As for the availablity of live
spots in the markets Don mentioned, I would tend to doubt that many exist
much less are available.
