Bridgeport hockey on New Haven station

Today's New Haven Register reports the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers
have signed up with WAVZ New Haven (1300) for the upcoming season, with
all games to be aired.

I wonder if this is going to be a Lowell Spinners-type situation. WAVZ's
signal deteriorates to unusability at night once you get 15 miles north
of New Haven. If it's no better to the west/southwest, then the folks
driving home from the game won't be able to hear the postgame show.

Airtime on WAVZ became available with the folding of the UHL New Haven
Knights, last spring, and the permanent closing of the team's arena, the
New Haven Coliseum, last night.

Also, regarding the "Steeerrike" posting of a couple of days ago: If you
want to see minor league baseball if and when MLB goes on strike, you'll
only have a few days to do so. The MLB-affiliated minors end their
seasons on Labor Day -- not much time left for the Spinners, Vermont
Expos, Pawsox, Rock Cats, Navigators, Ravens and Sea Dogs, although
Norwich and possibly New Haven are headed for the playoffs. I think the
independent leagues may play a bit longer. So catch a minor league game
while you can.
