Rambling through Western Mass.

While driving through Ware, I managed to find WACE, Chicopee, with its religious programming.  I 
tried a few other frequencies, couldn't find anything non-religious on the AM dial for awhile.  I didn't 
manage to remember where WARE was on the dial -- not until a couple of minutes ago, when I 
looked it up on the Boston Radio Archives.  Eventually, I found WPNI, formerly WTTT, in Amherst, 
still carrying Public Radio programming.  The call WPNI apparently stands for Public News & 
Information.  I also noticed last night that WPNI now has a nighttime signal, which I heard in the car 
in Amherst, but which doesn't reach the Red Roof Inn in South Deerfield, where I'm staying. Right 
now, I'm listening to polka music on WMUA. 

WMUA, incidentally, has stopped Webcasting because of the recent rulings.  Apparently they will 
decide in the fall what to do.  This is explained on their website.  Incidentally, Garrett, you need to 
update the link to WMUA's website in the archives.  It's now at www.wmua.org .  They had a great 
promo last year when they set up that address:

Yesterday, I explored the building in Northampton where Calvin Coolidge had his law office.  When I 
last visited, in the mid-70s, the successor law firm was still there and still had his name on the door. 
 When I entered, there was a large portrait of Calvin staring at me, and one of the lawyers showed 
me the room that had been his office, together with a photo showing what it looked like at that time.  
Now, the firm is gone, and nothing marks the suite where he was.  The building is mostly occupied 
by chiropractors, homeopaths, massage therapists, a couple of solo lawyers, and someone whose 
shingle identifies him as "spaceman, writer."  There is a sign at the building entrance about its 
historic significance, including the fact that Calvin Coolige's law office was there.
