Was WWZN, now WPTR
Funny you mention WPTR:
I'm aprox 20 miles west of WGIP (1540-Exeter), and they have to sign off at
dusk. Well, it's actually a decent daytime signal and some days comes in
BETTER than WGIR (610-Mahcester) whose xmitter is about 14 miles NW, so if I
want to listen to the simulcast, I'll listen to 1540 instead of 610.
However, come about 30-60 minutes prior to sunset, WPTR's signal begins to
bleed into WGIP's. Some days a little, some days quite a bit. Ocassionally,
I can't even tell when WGIP signs off because WPTR has already "taken over"
the 1540 freq on my radios here at home...
