The government "subsidy" is far less than most people believe a vast
majority of funding comes from listeners and from corporate underwriting
and Public Radio is subjected to the same pressures from corporations
that commerical radio is case in point the on-going boycott of WBUR by
some former corporate underwriters because of the Israeli-Palestinian
conflict. To WBUR's credit the station has not caved to the economic
pressure.
