RE: Oldies on the radio
In the right conditions, WPTR's AM Stereo sounds pretty good in the Boston
area!

WPTR/1540 is basically an adult standards station,
and a GOOD one at that. On Saturday nights, they
switch over to an oldies show from another Crawford
Broadcasting station in Texas. It's a good idea to
make the station more accessable to a younger
demographic. The idea is to show a younger audience
that WPTR has a different sound during the week and
more Oldies based sound on Saturday nights. Some of
the audience who loves the oldies, might stick around
for the standards during the week. Well, apparently
WPTR has found its' niche. I like the station myself.
Even though I am more of an oldies generation
listener, I like the standards as well.
I'm 42 years old and live in the Boston area. With
'PTR's super signal at night, I find it very
refreshing to hear soemthing different on the AM band
other than satellite talk, talk and more talk.
