Re: Lost 45's #2 (was Re: ** A Brand New Boston Radio Show!)

Yes, Little Walter did the 1150 WMEX "Saturday Night Request Party" 6 PM -
midnight from late 1985 to late 1987, when he was hired (for the first time)
by WODS. And he certainly did take lots of requests!

When Walter left WMEX, he was replaced on their "Saturday Night Request Party"
by Bob O'Brien of WDRC in Hartford (now, I believe, doing oldies in Florida).

When 1150 WMEX PD Gary James (now GM/AMD at WMEX-FM Farmington NH) left in
fall 1988, the incoming new PD (who sunk 1150 WMEX over the next year, though
that may have been Greater Media's plan anyway) "let go" O'Brien and put the
national satellite request oldies show "Solid Gold" on Saturday nights (was
previously on Friday nights) and eliminated the local request show.

Meanwhile, WODS' "Saturday Night Request Party" began with Mike Finnegan
(still evenings 9 PM - 1 AM) and Walter was doing the "Time Machine" on Sunday
evenings.

Shortly thereafter, Walter got the "Saturday Night Request Party", and was
doing both Saturday and Sunday evenings until he was fired (for the first
time) in 1994 and replaced by Jim Sands, who "retired" from WODS (apparently
not by choice) a couple of years ago.

Walter was rehired by WODS PD John Morgan in fall 1998, and fired again last
December by new PD Greg Strassell.
