Re: Made-up callsigns
When WHCF 88.5 started up back in the early 80's, it indeed was started
by the then controversial Pastor H.C. "Buddy" Franklin, also known as
the Jerry Falwell of Maine. During the late 80s or early 90s
Rev.Franklin became embroiled in a sex-scandal, which was actually
reported on "60-Minutes". After that controversy, he supposedly left the
church, and WHCF took on new leadership, and adopted the "Where He
Comes First"slogan.
WHCF has had a rough winter, being off the air during much of Feb and
March due to transmitter problems at their site atop Passadunkeag
Mountain. They came back on the air last week, and seem to be on their
regular schedule, although I don't monitor them that often. They do send
out a great signal though, easily received from Augusta north to
Houlton, and over into New Brunswick.
