Of course the most interesting story of a call sign's origination is right
in our own back yard down in Marshfield, when Ed Perry tried to put a radio
station on the air. Every time he'd find a site for the tower, the town
would turn down his application. So finally he approached the SelectBoard
with a site next to the dump, and they accepted it. So he got the call
letters WATD, for We're At the Dump! For more info on this, type in WATD in
Yahoo search engine and you'll find a local newspaper article about this
online somewhere.
