Why wouldn't they be on speaking terms? Have I missed something?

I believe the reason this did not happen is that the Olympic TV contract for
2002 was signed long before NBC gained partial ownership of PAX. Maybe using
MSNBC/CNBC were mandated in the contract with the IOC?
