Expanded band... 1600 to 1700 kHz on your AM radio.
A few years ago the FCC began licensing stations to
this area, but not too much action so far (at least
not around here). So maybe some pirates are taking
advantage of the open frequencies. Many car radios
and portable stereos do go up to "1700"...

At one point, did AM "end" at 1500, by the way?
