I heard from someone who heard the interview that Terry 
kept her cool and just let the guy's own words show what 
a jerk he is. I suspect that the producers felt that was 
entirely appropriate and so let the interview air. My 
guess is that someone up the line at NPR decided to 
withhold the audio file from the Web site.

One thing is certain: Since this was a book tour, 
Simmons did one hell of a job in promoting his book. He 
could never have done that if he had observed the rules 
of normal decorum. Perhaps most NPR listeners will not 
be curious enough to buy the book, but for every 
listener, there must be 10 others who never would have 
heard about the book had Simmons not misbehaved.
