Quite a few people in the Brattleboro area agree with
you, Adam, myself included. I spent most of the first
quarter of todays game fielding calls from irate
listeners wanting to know why we were running the
Westwood One feed instead of Gil and Gino. (I was
usually hung up on before I got a chance to explain)

As Bill Abbate pointed out on the BCN postgame show to
a listener in Maine, the flagship station of the teams
in question at this stage of the game can produce
their own play-by-play, but are not allowed to offer
it to their affiliates. Westwood One had exclusive
rights to todays game (and has the Superbowl as well).
WBCN provided affiliates with the normal pre- and
post-game shows and fed the WW1 feed down the line
during the game. Patriots affiliates that wished to
carry today's game (as well as next weeks) had to
obtain written permission from Westwood One prior to
airing the game. If another station in the same
market was already signed with WW1, then the affiliate
would be out of luck. Which may be why WLZX didn't
have the game, with WNNZ being in the same general
area running the game (there could be other factors at
work there as well). So, other than WBCN, every other
radio station in Patriots Nation that had the game
today was running the Westwood One feed you heard on
WNNZ.
