The municipal boundary runs somewhere between Commonwealth Avenue and
Beacon Street. The postal boundary is Commonwealth Avenue. I actually
first noticed that back in the 1950s, before zip codes, when my
grandparents lived on Engelwood Avenue in Brighton, but their postal
address was Brookline. That area still is served by the Brookline post
office. I suggest you check out the Post Office Website and see for
yourself. There's also a small area of Brookline, down by B.U., that has
a Boston Zip code. That can be verified on the Zip Code map on the Town
of Brookline Website, http://www.townofbrooklinemass.com .

And, by the way, no address has an 02146 zip code any more. Brookline
zip codes are now 02445 and 02446. Some parts of South Brookline are
Chestnut Hill 02467, and PO boxes in the Brookline Village post office
are 02447 (Formerly 02147). This change is several years old.
